This week we were carrying out the commissioning of the Sprinkler System at Winton Suites, which is a luxury Care Home in Edinburgh, prior to practical completion. The Sprinkler System has been designed and installed in full compliance with BS9251:2021 – Category 3

In care homes fire safety is about protecting vulnerable lives.  Many residents have limited mobility or require assistance to evacuate, making rapid escape in a fire extremely challenging- particularly at night when staffing levels are reduced.

Automatic sprinkler systems activate at the source of the fire, helping to control or extinguish it in its early stages.

Guidance from the Scottish Government and enforcement from by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service highlight the importance of strong fire protection measures in high-risk residential settings such as care homes.

Real world incidents show how quickly things can turn tragic. The fatal fire at Rosepark Care Home in Uddingston highlights how devastating a fire can be in a care environment without effective fire suppression. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-13132557
